Guidelines for using the AMT Forum

We’ve jotted down a few guidelines to help you get the most out of our AMT Forum.  If you have more suggestions, let us know at forums@towns.org.uk

Our aim is to create a bank of information which becomes a valuable resource for market towns around the country and beyond.  Sharing ideas and experiences through discussion – rather than relying on one person’s opinion – helps to tease out genuine solutions.

  • Introduce yourself to the group when you make your first post – just as you would when striking up a conversation.
  • Keep your posts focused on the Topic under discussion.
  • Make your posts meaningful (avoid short ‘me too’ responses) and focused on solutions.
  • Think about what readers of the Forum will find useful - shared experiences and expert knowledge.
  • Don’t take offence if someone disagrees with you. This is a space for debate as well as discussion and all opinions are welcome.
  • But do be courteous and polite, just as you would in a face-to-face conversation. There is room for personal opinion but not for personal insults. Let’s keep it clean – no swearing!

We hope you enjoy using the AMT Forum and, most importantly, find it useful in the quest to revitalise your market town.

If you have any success stories from advice and ideas you picked up in the Forum, don’t forget to let us know!
